Orgánica y Ecológica

A rural idyll

The finca (arm) is located just within a protected Natural Parque at the end of a small rural village in an agricultural area.  Over the past 20 years, it has been restored organically & ecologically in this rural environment, to create a sustainable balance between the rich local biodiversity and visiting guests.

It is therefore gently managed using long-term sustainable methods rather than an artificial manicured space, creating a healthy ecosystem with a wealth of habitats and havens in natural surroundings that change throughout the seasons (as well as ongoing projects) - interspersed with just five properties and their small private gardens, as well as two children and table tennis areas in the shared central spaces.

The Cortijo (farmhouse) and Casitas (cottages), patios & gardens have been re-built or restored using their original stones, local products & certified wood wherever possible - surrounded by trees and plants to provide cooling shade.

Simply relax and spend a day or two quietly unwinding, or venture forth to enjoy what this lovely corner of Spain has to offer!

Sustainable

Without the use of chemicals and an increasing focus on water conservation including plans to reduce lawns and other grass areas to create drought-tolerant 'dry garden' beds, there area seasonal changes throughout the year which are entirely natural and managed accordingly in the best interests of the plants rather than aesthetics - so on occasion areas will not match the website photographs, as these change depending on the time of year and weather conditions.

For those not used to such environments, this includes cutting grass lawn areas higher and less often in Summer;  central Spring wildflower areas cut down after self-seeding to reduce fire risk (smaller areas in the shade are left uncut); dead plants or trees left in situ for a season to see if they regrow from the base; leaf litter during hotter months to conserve water evaporation; cut wood and branches placed in piles near boundaries to create wildlife havens; small plants and cuttings used for stronger growth (and occasionally protected by low fencing or natural branches); bushes and climbers are allowed to grow naturally rather than pruned into particular shapes etc.

This is a plan of the  top half of the finca, so you can locate each property, pools and play areas.

Large areas of the finca are left untouched in their natural state for wildlife, including along boundaries with neighbouring fincas,  interconnecting spaces and the several acres of water meadows (marismas) with a small private lake located in the bottom half of the finca (not shown in this plan)  - so there is an increasing array of resident, seasonal and visiting rarer birds, plants and smaller animals, which are increasing every year.

Swim

Both the shared Casitas and private Cortijo pools are safely fenced - each are 5m x 10m with proper steps to enter, sun terrace with sun beds, shaded pergola and a bathroom/changing room.

Play

Two play areas for children aged 1-6 and 6-12 years with swings, slides, playhouses & pirate ship offer hours of fun - so kids can run about, explore & meet new friends!

Challenge

A Games area with table tennis & giant board games for backgammon, chess & draughts are tucked away in a shady corner.  Perfect for friends, older families, or teens to escape to their own space!

Relax

Several acres of gardens offer guests more green spaces to enjoy including the scented 'Bees & Butterflies' garden with its hidden central patio offering shaded seating to curl up with a book - access at the top or bottom of 'Citrus Walk'.
